09/10/2023 - National Showcase - Boise, ID Carson is an athletic 5ft/150 catcher in the 2027 class. Behind the plate, he shows quickness and agility in his set-up. Gains a low and athletic stance and beats the ball to the spot with proper extension. Pocket has great feel and maintains his eyes behind the baseball. Exchange is quick and creates a short low 3 qtr. slot for accurate feeds to the bag. Registered a best 2.07 with 79 arm velo. Shows advanced techniques with quick block and recover skills. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and gets into his load well. Balance stays inside his feet and hits off a firm front side. Hands are fast (80 exit velo) and creates a hard-hit contact rate. Showed solid line drive power to the pull side gap and can also use the whole field. Overall, Carson plays well above grade and has the tools to become a future star.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Boise, ID Carson is a C prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. Behind the dish he shows good agility with quick feet and good body control. Sets up in an athletic primary stance, with an easy sway, while working his thumb under baseball. Creates good blocking angles and is quick to get down. Replaces his feet as he gains ground to second base. Has a quick transfer and made accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 81mph and a best pop time of 2.16 seconds. A right-handed hitter hits from an athletic and even stance. Smooth timing to swing, with knob to C, and has good barrel control at contact. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 74mph during BP. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we see Carson making huge strides on the baseball field.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Carson is a strong and athletic C/RHP in the 2027 class. Scouts love his leadership abilities and the energy he brings to his team. He is well liked by his teammates and is a player who strives to get better. Has a great approach and can separate his at-bats from his defense. Behind the plate, he has an athletic feel and keeps his eyes behind the baseball. Stays low and catches the bottom of the baseball. Has active feet with solid body control and can redirect the baseball quickly (2.30). He is an advanced blocker for a 2027 grad and is quick to recover. On the mound Carson competes. Has a great feel for pitching and is always around the zone. His FB touched 74 with running action. His CB sat 57-61 with 10-4 shape and with more feel, he will dominate with it. His CH sat 60-3 and provided sink with deception. At the plate, he has a slight closed stance with high hands. His load is simple and gets his back side through. Has power (78 exit velo) and his quiet head allows him to see the baseball. His baserunning is off the charts as he stole 9 bases in 3 games. Overall, Carson is a high character individual who loves the game and a true pleasure to coach. He is a future star in the making.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
