03/21/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Phoenix , AZ Carson continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field with gap-to-gap pop.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Carson is an athletic and talented OF prospect. In the OF, Carson is on time with his prep step, he has a quick first step to the ball, and creates good angles. He plays through ground balls and has a quick release when throwing. At the plate, Carson starts in a relaxed stance, he has a simple load, and rotates his lower half through contact. His hips/hands work well, he stays in his legs, and he looks to hit the ball to all fields. Carson is highly competitive and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/28/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Carson is a SS/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Carson shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry through his target. In the OF, Carson shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and drives the ball to his pull side. With three more years to develop, Carson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/21/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Carson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have really improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At SS, feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft /clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Carson is a hard-working, high energy player who is able to contribute at multiple positions on the field. He is a defensive specialist with the loose actions to slide anywhere on the diamond. He is aggressive to the ball and shows good range, especially to the backhand. His hands are sure to field and quick to transfer on DP turns. At the plate, Carson is relaxed and quiet with good rhythm and timing. He has a good feel for the strike zone and works the pitcher to get to his pitch. As he grows and his body matures, he will get stronger and have better pop and barrel awareness. We look forward to watching Carson continue to grow as a player.

01/18/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Carson is a young, R/R 2-way player as an OF/SS. In the OF, he has aggressive footwork and tracks down fly-balls with speed. He secures the ball with 2-hands and has a clean transfer/exchange to throw. At SS, Carson has active footwork and moves well laterally into a square/athletic fielding position. He gathers smoothly and works in-line toward his target at 1B. Offensively, this righty has a balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. He swings on a level path, engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball with some pop. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
