03/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Nashville, TN Carson is a RHP/SS prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Carson gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest square to the plate. Carson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 73mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-61mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 65-69mph. Extending through his release can help Carson improve his pitch command and velocity. In the field, Carson shows active footwork and moves well laterally. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He throw from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate/on-line to his target. Long tossing can help Carson build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He shows fluid rhythm and works through a level swing, leading to consistent line drives. Carson can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Carson is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Knoxville, TN Carson is a thin, athletic, 2-way player with good skills. On the mound, Carson has good balance over the rubber, a clean arm circle, and he separates his hands on time. He keeps his eyes on target, lands with a proper length stride toward home, and finishes in a complete position. At SS, Carson makes plays through efficient footwork. He moves well laterally, fields low, and has a clean exchange with a consistent arm across the diamond. Offensively, Carson has a square stance and stride and good balance. He swings aggressively, makes square contact, and he uses his lower body. Solid overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
