02/15/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Carson continues to chip away and get a little bit better every time we see him. In this outing, he bumped up his exit velocity off of the tee from 65mph to 80mph. At second base, he shows energy in his pre-pitch set-up and with his playing through the ball. He has also shaved over 2/10th's of a second off his 40 yard dash in the last 5 months. We look forward to seeing what Carson brings to the table when we see him again in April at the Academic All-American.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Carson is a 2025 2B. He continues to improve his baseball skillsets. Footspeed and overall athleticism are the 2 main areas of improvement. At 2B, Carson creates fielding angles glove side. Showed ability to throw from multiple arm slots with accurate throws to first base. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits from a tall and open stance. Gets good separation, with a short stride, and has on-time rhythm to swing. On-plane swing, with some late bat whip, who showed ability to hit balls into both gaps as high as 80mph. In live game action, Carson had 2 singles and drew a base on balls. He has a bright future on the baseball field with continued growth and development.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Carson improved his 60 yard dash time and his broad jump while participating in the Baseball Factory All-Region Tournament in Tucson. However, where he made the biggest gain from his previous Baseball Factory event was in the arm strength category bumping all the way up to 76mph. He recently made the shift from first base to second base and this move fits him well. He works through the ball with a clean exchange. As his lower half strengthens, he'll have an easier time getting lower to the ground as he currently plays a little high. At the plate, he's simple with his approach; square with his setup, short with his stride and smooth to the ball. We look forward to seeing Carson back out in front of us in 2021 to continue tracking his development.

07/20/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Carson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a lone toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carson worked out at 1B during his time in Arizona and showed a spike in arm velocity to 56 MPH, and exit velocity to 63 MPH. Defensively, Carson has good bag awareness, he gets in an athletic fielding position, and his feet are active. He shows some range, makes plays, and has a short/quick arm with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Carson stands in athletically and comfortably in the box. He has an activated load, swings on plane, and he hits line drives consistently.

10/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Carson is a young, solid, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Carson has active feet, soft hands, and he fields in a square position. He covers ground, makes plays, and throws with consistency to his target. On the mound, Carson works at a good pace, he keeps his eyes on target, and separates his hands on time. He has a controlled landing toward the plate and competes in the zone. Offensively, Carson has a tall/open stance, good balance, and a middle of the field approach. He tracks well and finds the barrel. Carson can improve abilities with work on the following.

2. Quickness

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
