Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Carson is an attentive 2B/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Benicia, CA. At 2B, he showed efficient footwork by gaining ground towards the ball and taking good angles. He fielded in a low athletic position with his glove out front. He worked through with soft hands and a clean exchange to throw balls online to the bag. At the plate, he used a square set up with smooth timing to work his lower half through the zone to a firm front side. His bat path was short and quick to the ball which enabled him to make consistent line drive contact. On the mound, he showed great feel for his pitches and threw a ton of strikes. His fastball topped out at 60 mph while his breaking ball had good downward action and his change up stayed down in the zone. Carson could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, arm path, strength, speed & agility.

05/31/2021 - All-In Membership - Sacramento, CA Carson is a lean 3B/C who will graduate in 2026. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to squares balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in 2.99 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 5 years to further develop, Carson has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
