06/19/2017 - College PREP - Katy (Houston), TX Carson is a hardworking RHP/OF prospect who has a tall, projectable frame and graduates in 2020. On the mound, Carson has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. He does a nice job engaging his hips and rotating towards his target as he finishes. Carson commands his fastball and his slider is developing. He throws his changeup with deceptive arm speed. Offensively, Carson has a square stance with his weight in the back of his setup. He has a short stride and partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Carson shows an on-plane swing path and maintains a good bat angle through the zone. He is a contact type hitter who has good potential. In the field, Carson takes the correct angles to stay behind the ball. He presents his glove and has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action. Carson does a nice job playing through the baseball and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Carson has a good approach to the game with a versatile skill and upside to get even better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
