02/25/2017 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Carter is a big (6', 190lbs), strong 2018 1B prospect. He shows off impressive speed (7.07 60 time) and athleticism that help his tools play up in games. He has big power at the plate, especially to the pull side as he shows a strong lower half to generate good bat speed on a level path. His swing is fluid with centered balance and he keeps his hands inside the ball to make consistent, square contact to hit the ball hard gap to gap. At first, he plays light on his feet, covering plenty of ground to field and working around the bag with ease. He squares the ball up to field in the center of his body to make plays cleanly and can pick the ball out of the dirt to receive. Working on agility drills will lead to smoother actions and even more clean plays at first. Carter is an intriguing prospect who we definitely want to continue watching.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
