Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

03/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hartford, CT Carter is a SS/RHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he is an aggressive defender and works his body through the baseball well. Fields in a squared position by using active footwork. Has plus range and impressed scouts with his hands. Exchanges are quick and clean and uses a loose arm slot for accurate feeds. Has the arm strength (72 velo) to throw from several defensive zones. Working to sink his hips will help with his glove extension and hop recognition. On the mound, he is a strike thrower who has a great feel for pitching. Works with a great tempo and has repeatable mechanics. Operates with a 3-pitch mix from a low arm slot. His FB topped at 66 and was frequently in the zone. His SL sat 57-9 with 10/4 shape. His CH sat 56 with FB arm speed and arm side run. At the plate, he begins in an athletic set-up and displays solid rhythm. He maintains his balance inside his feet and uses a short and direct approach for pull side production. With 4 years left to develop, Carter can become and solid prospect and attract the attention of college scouts.

12/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Carter is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Carter shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Carter shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 55mph. Breaking ball sits from 44-46mph with 11-5 break. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Remove glove pat
2. Shorter arm swing
Hitting
1. Add strength
2. Consistent lower half drive
Pitching
1. Earlier separation
2. Chest over front knee finish

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
