Official Scouting Report

  • OFPosition Projection

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Carter is a class of 2025 OF prospect. In the field, he shows good athletic feet as well as taking good first steps. He fields from an athletic position with his hands out front. Does a good job on exchanges and creates momentum to throw. Does an excellent job of working behind and through the baseball. At the plate, he starts in a tall open stance. Does a good job of getting his hands activated in the swing. Shows very good rhythm and timing. Creates consistent contact to all parts of the field. Carter is a bright young prospect that we expect to see more good things from in the future

12/06/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Sacramento, CA Carter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/20/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Carter continues to work hard on his skills. With the bat, this righty stands in well with centered balance getting back into a loaded position. He takes a hack, creates extension through contact and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. At 2B, he has active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt, makes that player and gathers well. Working on his approach (right to left) while playing through the ball more will aid in his defensive development. Only a 2025 grad - Tidwell still has a ton of time to progress and physically mature.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Carter continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are quick / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/01/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sacramento, CA Carter showed a spike in arm velocity to 53 MPH and exit velocity to 57 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. In the OF, Carter has a presentable glove, he gets good reads off the bat, and takes proper angles. He makes plays, has a good crow hop toward his target, and he throws with a loose arm action. Behind the plate, Carter has quick feet, a presentable glove, and he sits in athletically. He blocks and receives well and throws with a quick release to 2nd base. At the plate, Carter has a crouched stance, a square stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He is a scrappy hitter with fast bat speed and he can spray the ball to all fields.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Carter is a coachable OF/C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Carter shows quick footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He throws from over top and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Making a quicker exchange can help Carter improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Carter can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With six more years to develop, Carter has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Carter is a scrappy, 2-way player who plays OF and catcher. In the OF, Carter gets good reads off the bat, his feet play well, and he works behind the ball properly. He makes plays, gathers himself well, and throws with a loose arm action to his cut off man. Behind the plate, Carter has active feet, he sits in athletically, and sticks it well. He creates a good angle when blocking, and has a clean exchange with accuracy to 2nd base. Offensively, Carter has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and gets his lower body through. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
