Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

09/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Daytona Beach, FL Cason is a class of 2022 2B/RHP prospect. He shows off an athletic frame with strength present. In the field, he shows off plus fielding actions and does a good job creating angles to the baseball. He shows off an impressive amount of range. Fields from a low stance and does a good job making clean transfers. At the plate, he hits from an athletic stance and shows a simple and repeatable swing. Does a good job tracking the ball deep into the zone and stays balanced throughout the swing. Had exit velos as high as 79 MPH. On the mound, he shows clean actions and works downhill. Does a good job using his lower 1/2 and his frontside. Shows the ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes. Worked his fastball up to 76 MPH. Shows a 11-5 shaped breaking ball and a good changeup with late sinking action. Cason is a talented player who has a bright future.

08/18/2019 - College PREP - St. Augustine, FL Cason is a lean, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth/clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry (81 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Cason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
