11/01/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures Texas Charles has an electric arm on a tall, lean 6'4"/185 lb frame. His arm is extremely quick and works free through a 3/4 slot. His fastball was up to 94 mph with late sink and tail. This pitch explodes at the plate and at times acts as a rare swing-and-miss fastball. He also mixes in a hard slider with 2-plane break that has tight spin, and a change that is thrown with fastball arm speed. He lives down in the zone with all 3 pitches except for when he occasionally climbs the ladder with his FB to finish off hitters. Overall, Charles has the makings of a future front-line starter with high quality stuff.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
