12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Charles continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean actions. Feet are active as he attack balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Charles is a tall and lean RHP/SS that will graduate in 2022. On the mound Charles shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. On the mound he has a good presence as he starts square with simple movements showing a clean arm action. He keeps his shoulders in line with good stride length as he finished rotation around his front leg. At SS Charles shows athletic and effective footwork with agile range. He gets into a good fielding position making a clean exchange getting rid of the ball quickly. He has a quick arm action, making accurate throws with good backspin. At the plate, Charles starts open with small load and rotates against a firm front side. He gets good extension on his swing making consistent contact showing good pull side ability. Charles is a young player with the drive and frame to develop into a high-level player.

06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Charles is a tall RHP/SS prospect who showcased his skills at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, Charles gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph. Breaking ball sits from 59-60mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 61mph. Loosening his arm action can help Charles improve as a pitcher. In the field, Charles starts in an athletic ready position and displays smooth footwork. He fields in an athletic position and makes a two-handed exchange, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Charles can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with his hands held high. He drives through well with his lower half and sprays the ball to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Charles improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Charles has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
