11/02/2023 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at JRTC Charles is a 5ft 10/140 SS/OF in the 2027 class. On the dirt, he shows solid actions and a positive 1st step. Has pre-pitch actions and reads the ball off the bat. Squares his body to the ball and his pocket has feel. Working to sink his hips and gain glove extension will allow him to transition from a long and short hop adjustments. In the OF, he is learning a feel for the position. His natural athletic ability allows him to play the position and with positive reps, he can become a versatile defender. At the plate, he had a solid weekend with 2 hits and 3 BB’s. He is a strong hitter who can use both gaps. He hits off a firm front side and his barrel is in the zone at 62 exit velo. Overall, Charles is a player to watch in the 2027 class.

04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Daytona Beach, FL Charles is a lean SS who will graduate in 2027. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Charles has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
