08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Charlie continues to show progress in his baseball abilities and did so during his last workout at Team One Northeast. He is a big, aggressive Outfielder who gets good reads off the bat. He works behind the ball well, plays through, and gets on top of the ball. Charlie throws with life and carry through to his target. Added arm strength and finishing off his throws should help defensive grades get better. At the plate, Charlie has a wide base, balanced approach, and a level swing. He puts the ball in play, but will need to improve his barrel accuracy and tap into more lower 1/2 in order for offensive numbers to improve.

03/28/2010 - College PREP - Providence, RI Charlie is an OF with a big, strong, and athletic looking body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.26 60 time as he utilizes his quick athletic feet well in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target as hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy, on a line to his target. Offensively, LaPaqlia sets in well, showing an aggressive approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he shows a solid feel for the barrel, using all fields. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Charlie has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
