01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Naso continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Feet are active in working in line as he threw his lowest pop time at 1.96. Hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving and blocking skills now show potential as being quality tools at the next level. At the plate, Charlie has quick hands that work through a level swing path as he sprays the ball to all fields. He was 2 for 5 with 4 BB, displaying a solid eye at the event.

12/06/2009 - College PREP - McCook, IL Charlie is a young two-way player on the mound plus as a catcher with a thick, strong looking body that is well suited for his positions. Currently, he projects best as a catcher for the next level. Foot speed is near below average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active in working in line, showing proper direction to his target with hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.00 - 2.10 as he will control the running game with his feet and arm. Arm strength is well above average showing life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Receiving and blocking skills are slightly above average needing further development to be quality tools for the next level. At the plate, Naso continues to shine displaying near above average abilities with above average power through an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating bat speed as he shows a solid feel for the barrel. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 80-84 mph with life out of his hand. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 12/6 shape with tight spin and late depth. Changeup is average showing some running action. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Charlie has a ton of potential with the makings to be a solid catcher as he will get a ton of looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
