09/05/2010 - College PREP - Plainfield, IN Charlie is a lean, athletic, Catcher who will graduate in 2011. Behind the plate, Charlie holds a low target, has good flexion, and moves well laterally when blocking. He has life in his body and he gains ground well when attempting to throw out runners. Charlie has a nice exchange and his throws are direct with carry to his target. Offensively, Charlie has good balance and bat speed. He stays on top of the ball well and he puts it in play. Hitting can improve if Charlie can avoid diving at the ball and use more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
