01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chase continues to exude power at the plate. He gets his lower 1/2 through helping him to drive the ball to the gaps. He remains patient and waits for his pitch, as he displayed drawing a couple of walks at the event. Defensively, he works like on his feet for a big guy and moves well around the bag. He has a quick exchange, getting the ball out of his glove. Arnold is a corner infielder who will give you all he has on the field.

07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase Arnold showed similar abilities as we had previously seen at Omaha World Series. At 1B, he shows proper footwork and displays clean hands as he is a quality receiver. He attacks ground balls as he plays through balls with his body. Throws are accurate as he works to get rid of ball quickly but needs to build more arm strength. At the plate, Chase shows a balanced approach with quick hands that work to and through the ball at contact. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 1 for 4 with a BB.

06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 This week in Omaha Chase came out and displayed the ability to make improvements in multiple aspects of his game. Defensively, he had more arm strength than his previous event and continues to show that he knows his way around the bag along the soft hands that work well to pick balls out of the dirt. His defensive abilities will continue to develop as he keeps working to improve his agility and gets a better feel for fielding the ball out in front. At the plate, he has quick hands and plenty of plate coverage allowing him to hit well in his two strike approach. His offensive tools should continue to improve as he learns to really engage his lower half and stays inside the baseball consistently. Chase also displayed his fastest 60-time thus far with the Factory and should continue to excel thanks to his great attitude.

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Arnold continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to improve quickness. His feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. He needs to present his hands more out front, quicken his release, and build more arm strength to continue to improve defensive grades. At the plate, power grades have improved to outstanding as the baseball explodes off his bat when centered. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through to ball at contact. He uses all fields with power numbers continuing to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently through the swing. At the event he was 2 for 6 with a 2B.

07/29/2011 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2011 Arnold showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Greenville, SC. Foot speed has improved but must get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. At 1B, he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a solid receiver. Throws are accurate but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength with carry. Offensively is where Chase shows best through an aggressive approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows plus barrel accuracy with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 5 for 12 with 2 2B. Arnold shows an excellent work ethic and is very coachable.

03/13/2011 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Chase is a young (2013) 1B with a thick, strong frame that shows projection as he continues to polish and firm up. Foot speed is below average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active as he displays outstanding foot work around the bag and is a plus receiver at 1B. Hands are soft, clean, and sure as he displays the ability to pick all balls out of the dirt. Throws shows accuracy but needs to get on a long toss program to build more arm strength. Offensively, Arnold continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through the ball, creating extension. He loads well and uses his lower half. He creates good torque in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Power is present, showing strength in his swing to all fields. With 2 years to further develop, Chase has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
