02/17/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Chase is a 2028 LHP/1B. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 59-61 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Chase is a 2028 OF/LHP out of Hudson, NH who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. In the OF he plays with good effort and energy. Has a clean gather off of his right foot with ability to get rid of the ball. A left-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Shows good poise on the mound with a good feel for pitching. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 60mph with good movement, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with good command, and a changeup with sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. In 4 innings of work, Chase punched out 3 batters and didn't allow a run. At the plate he hits from an athletic and even stance with high hands. Gets a good hip turn and has a high finish. In live game action, he showed good plate discipline as he drew 2 walks. Chase showed some pitch-ability and was a good teammate. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Chase is a talented 1B/LHP in the 2028 class. In the field, he shows fluid feet and smooth actions. His hands are soft and his pocket has feel. He redirects the baseball with clean actions and gains a loose high 3 qtr. slot and can use numerous slots based upon his defensive zone. Feeds are accurate and his arm plays at 64 velo. On the mound, he operates with a 4-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. release point. His FB sat 59-60 with late life. His split ranged around 55 with good actions. His SL sat 54-5 and shaped 2-8. His CH was in the zone with a natural and loose feel at 55-6. At the plate, he has a simple and repeatable swing. He keeps his eyes quiet for advanced pitch recognition and his hands and hips work well together. Working to stay square in his stride will assist with full plate coverage. Overall, scouts feel Chase has a bright future and are eager to witness his development at future BF events.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
