06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Chase is a tall, slim, 2-way player that plays 3B and RHP. He currently projects better on the mound, but still has time to improve at both positions. On the mound, Chase has an easy arm action and works on a downhill plane. He has a sound delivery, he attacks hitters, and his CB has tight 12-6 break. Added arm strength, and development of a CH will only help Chase improve mound effectiveness. At 3B, Chase has playable hands and average footwork. He makes plays on balls hit his way and throws with some carry across the diamond. If Chase can lighten his feet and attack the ball more aggressively, we could see a spike in defensive tool grades. At the plate, Chase has good balance, a wide base, and a simple approach. He has okay hands and a compact swing. Chase can work the ball to all fields, and if he can level off his swing and use more lower 1/2, offensive numbers could improve.
