06/18/2010 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2010 Nyman continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.14 runner. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in coming to get, and playing through the baseball with his hands and feet. Glove action is clean, soft, and sure as he makes all the plays. Arm is more suited for 2B but he turned two quality double plays with carry on throws. Offensively, Chase shows an aggressive approach through a solid setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is an outstanding person that plays hard and is willing to make adjustments to better himself. At the event, he was 6 for 15 with 2 3B a 2B and 6 RBI.

02/07/2010 - College PREP - Mobile, AL Chase is a young, athletic middle infielder with great upside. He displays active feet at 2B and SS and plays well through the ball. He is aggressive but steady on his feet while keeping hands out in front of his body. His arm action needs to smooth out and his double play quickness will improve with age and development. He is a gap to gap hitter with a sound lower half approach and level path to the ball. He shows a potential for more power.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
