10/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Chase is a tall, athletic catcher who will graduate in 2022. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process but needs to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.35 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Chase has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
