06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Chase is a tall, solid, athletic, 2-way player that plays SS and RHP. He currently projects better at SS as he approaches his Senior year. Defensively, Chase has athletic actions, plus hands, and good footwork. He makes plays and throws accurately with some carry to his target. More aggressiveness will only help Chase improve defensively. On the mound, Chase throws strikes and goes after hitters. He throws a lot of off-speed pitches and gets outs. Chase fields his position well and has quick feet on his pick-off moves. Offensively, Chase has a strong approach and good bat speed. He can drive the ball to the pull side and it jumps when centered properly. Hitting can get better if Chase can shorten his stride, not collapse his front side, and avoid diving down at the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
