08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Chris showed very well while in Pirate City, having improved on 4 of his tools since we saw him this spring. His defensive grade in particular has really improved, as he now shows well above average abilities at 2B. His feet are aggressive / active and he works to square balls up showing clean hands. He attacks balls and plays through while presenting hands out front through a low approach. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. His double play feeds and footwork on double players are also very good. Working on developing quicker overall footwork, more arm strength through a long toss program, and quickening his exchange are some areas to work on. Overall, he never made an error all week defensively and was one of the top 2B at the entire event. At the plate, hitting and power grades have improved through an athletic setup. He loads his hands well to the launch position and shows a level swing path. His bat speed is fast, but he needs to work on staying inside the ball, overall balance, and letting the curveball travel to him more. He had a great tournament, going 5 for 8 at the plate. Chris is a high energy player who is going to make a great 2B at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays with a lot of energy, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
