12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Classic (HS) CJ is a sophomore catcher from Meridian, Idaho, who has worked hard to improve his skills at the Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Camp. He presents a good target behind the plate with soft hands, working his thumb under to keep pitches in the strike zone. His clean arm stroke and accurate throws from a high three-quarter arm slot make him a reliable presence defensively. At the plate, he starts with his hands in a good position, tracks pitches well, and takes a square stride, competing hard throughout each at-bat. He reached base on a single, two walks, an error, and added an RBI. As a 2027 player, CJ has plenty of time to continue his development and growth.

05/25/2024 - National Showcase - American Fork, UT CJ is a strong 5 ft 9/190 C/3B in the 2027 class. Behind the plate, he shows a solid set up and stays centered to the baseball. The ball sticks to his pocket and his transfer are quick and clean. Gains a 3 qtr. slot to register 2.38 pop with 73 velo. Creates a downward chest angle on his blocks. Working to quicken his feet will create quickness in blocks laterally. At 3rd, he shows pre-pitch movement and quick exchanges. Solid backhand play and his arm is accurate. Working to play lower to the ground will allow him to create his own hop with his feet and adjust when necessary. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and gains a load phase. Ball jumps at 77 exit velo and his full finish allows for line drive contact. Overall, CJ has strong starting points to begin his promising career.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
