08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Christian is a young competitive catcher with good energy. Behind the plate, he catches clean, sits controlled, is on-time to block, and has some feel for the position. Working to become more flexible, and working around the ball while receiving will increase his defensive ability. Offensively, he has a contact approach with some rhythm, and has good box presence. He is disciplined and shows signs of spray ability. Staying through the ball at contact and being more on-time will allow for greater consistency. Christian jumped on the bump for two innings late in the tournament and threw two pitches for strikes. He worked quickly and was not afraid of contact. Overall, Fletcher projects best as a catcher at the next level with an ability to swing it.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
