02/10/2018 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Christian is a strong, catcher who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Christian has soft hands, he sits in low, and takes good angles to block. He centers the ball well, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a loose arm action to his target. A wider base, earlier reads, and added arm strength can help catching improve. Offensively, Christian has a square/athletic set-up, a proper load, and he swings in good rhythm. He has a direct barrel to the ball, makes hard/consistent contact, and can work the ball gap to gap.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Christian is a tall, solid C/1B and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.38 range with accuracy to his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work on his lateral movements to improve abilities. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Feet are active as he attacks balls. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He has pop in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, Christian has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
