03/11/2018 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Christian worked out at 2nd base and on the mound at his last workout with the Factory. His fielding grade spiked to a 50, showing quick/fluid feet, soft/sure hands, and a low fielding position. Christian has a quick/clean exchange, and a short/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Christian has a loose/free arm action, he gets good extension on his pitches, and repeats his delivery well. At the plate, Christian has a simple stroke, quick hands, and he makes solid contact. He is short to the ball, has a line drive approach, and has good speed getting down the line.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Christian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on feeds / turns of the double play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. In the OF, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He will benefit by getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

10/18/2015 - College PREP - Santa Rosa, CA This athlete continues to progress and make improvements in his game. Offensively, Christian shows a balanced setup with patience waiting for his pitch. He swings against a firm front side, whips the barrel to and through the zone and squares the ball up. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. At 2B, Christian has quick actions and moves well around the GB. He is sure handed, gathers well and works in-line toward his target at 1B. In the OF, he covers ground with speed hustling to his right and left. He secures the ball and plays through it well, gaining ground toward his target. McGowan will continue to physically mature (get stronger) which will help to take his game to the next level.

12/07/2014 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Christian is a young, 2-way player as a 2B/RHP. At 2B, he is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He picks out the hops, has a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target at 1B. With the bat, this RHH shows a closed stance with good balance. Swing path is level as he connects and drives the middle of the field. More lower 1/2 drive and extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. On the mound, this RHP has a 4-pitch repertoire coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and works in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 73 mph while showing run. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual break. He gets good extension on his release which adds to it's effectiveness. Slider has sharp break and will be a solid out pitch. Christian has skills that will only continue to develop as he is only a 2018 grad.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
