11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Christian showed similar skills at Pirate City as he did in previous workouts. He is a strong, athletic, OF who is aggressive to the ball and who can cover a lot of ground. Christian communicates well, he takes good routes to the ball, and he plays through properly. He has a clean exchange and a good crow hop. OF skills can get even better with more pre-pitch work and by playing in a lower fielding position. Offensively Christian has an aggressive approach, level swing path, and has gap to gap power. He has decent barrel accuracy and can spray the ball to all fields. Christian can improve hitting by throwing his hands more directly to the ball, and by keeping his weight back longer.

09/19/2010 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Christian is a thin, OF with average skills. Defensively, Christian is aggressive to the ball and he has a reliable glove. He makes plays on balls hit his way, gets decent extension, and throws with accuracy to his target. Christian can get better if he can improve his angles to the ball, quicken his transfer, and add arm strength. At the plate, Christian has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He hits hard to the pull side, gets good extension through the ball, and he can spray to all fields. A loose grip, more live hands, and better use of his lower 1/2 will help offensive numbers further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
