01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Chris is a young SS who continues to improve. Defensively at SS, he maintains active footwork with good pre-pitch movements and moves well around the ground ball, presenting his glove. He gets into a square fielding position and makes the plays with a soft glove. Continuing the play through the ball will cut down the throwing distance and should improve arm grade. At the plate, he gets into a square setup with a short stride. Swinging through a level path he makes consistent/square contact and has the ability to use the whole field. Letting the ball travel deeper and using more of his lower 1/2 to drive the ball will increase power. Once on base, Chris is aggressive and takes advantage of pitcher/catcher miscues. As only a 2016 graduate, Cerniglia will only continue to get stronger and grow in his game as he is coachable and willing to learn.
