Official Scouting Report

07/17/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Christopher showed an ability to make adjustments and improve his game in Cape Cod. At third, he worked lower in his fielding position, with his hands further in front. In the game setting he showed good awareness and anticipated plays well. Behind the dish, he sits well, receives with hands in front and has a simple, accurate arm. Offensively, he has an athletic setup, short swing path and is an astute tracker. He worked to utilize contact points and stay square with his stride. Overall, Chris is a hard worker that shows good body control and confidence playing the game.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Chris is a 2016 graduate who is a RHP/3B. He is a very coachable kid who wants to get better. He needs to get lower in his fielding position, field out front, work on his agility/speed and long toss for arm strength. On the mound Chris is a big/projectable kid and he has good composure. He needs to use his lower half for drive, get longer arm action and get more extension on finish. At the plate Chris made some good adjustments but he needs to find an athletic stance, develop a smooth load/approach and use his lower half. He has work to do on his fundamentals but Chris has a good attitude and is willing to adjust. If he continues to work hard and make the adjustments he can find success in the future.

07/10/2011 - Select Training at the All-Star Game (Pre HS) Christopher is a big 2016 graduate who is a RHP / 3B. On the mound he shows smooth arm mechanics and a consistent delivery. He needs to use his front side and lower half more. In the infield, Christopher is on time and presents his glove well to the ball but he needs to lower his fielding position. His hands need to soften up and he needs to work with agility drills to quicken his feet. At the plate Christopher needs to let his backside go. He needs a more athletic approach starting with his stance. Also, he is late with his stride which throws off his timing. If Christopher works at his deficiencies he can be a solid player at both positions in the future.

04/10/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Christopher is a RHP / 3rd baseman with a big, broad frame. On the mound, Christopher has a FB clocked as high as 63 MPH and a controlled balance point. He throws strikes, has good direction toward home, and he has good size on the mound. At 3rd base, Christopher has sure hands, active footwork, and a clean exchange. He squares his body well to his target, gains momentum, and throws with accuracy and carry across the diamond. At the plate, Christopher has an open stance, a level swing, and he makes contact. Christopher can improve his overall game with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Separation
2. Direction toward home
3. Finish
Defense
1. Hands
2. Long toss
3. Field in lower position
Offense
1. Balance
2. Contact point
3. Lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
