10/08/2008 - Florida National Tournament - 2008 Duncan showed good receiving and blocking skills, along with a strong arm. He can work to improve his footwork and transfer to throw, will help him with a quicker overall release. At first base, his feet worked well around the bag and he picked balls well. At the plate, he showed gap power with potential for more - he had a lot of life in his stroke. His approach was quiet and he setup well. Can work to use more of the field, tended to be a bit pull oriented. Overall, a solid catcher with offensive potential and a quiet confident demeanor.

07/14/2008 - College PREP - Cedar Hill (DFW), TX Chris is a catcher with a strong looking body suited for behind the plate. Foot speed is above average for a catcher and he utilizes his athletic feet in his set up and stance. Receiving skills are above average displaying a quiet stance allowing his glove action to work around the baseball. Blocking skills are near above average as he gets his body down quickly with proper angles to deaden balls in front. Arm strength is below average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to further aid in development. He flashes solid pop times due to his feet and hands working well together. Throws are accurate and will lower pop times with more arm strength. At the plate, Duncan shows above average ability with solid bat speed. He shows a feel for the barrel and does a nice job of keeping the barrel through the baseball at contact. He sprays the baseball to all fields with the ball jumping of the bat when centered. Chris will catch the eyes of some college coaches with his athletic ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
