01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Foster only showed in the OF at the event and continues to show solid abilities in the field and at the plate. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through well. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Christopher shows a solid setup and loads well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and he shows a solid feel for the barrel with ball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more.

12/27/2012 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic Chris showed well both offensively and defensively during his time at the UA Recruiting Classic. At the plate, Chris has good balance, a short stride, and fast bat speed. He has a level swing, he makes consistent contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. In the INF, Chris has firm hands, active feet, and he fields in a square position. He flashes a good backhand, his transfer is clean, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target.

04/22/2012 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Chris continues to impress at his workouts with his improvements and consistency at the plate. He improved his arm strength and his sixty yard dash time as well. His arm evaluation in the outfield increased showing better life out of the hand with consistency to the plate. He continues to take proper routes and stays aggressive on anything hit his way. He rushes himself at times causing his mechanics to break down some but overall he is an athletic player with good instincts. At the plate, he shows good separation taking the proper bat angle to the ball and maintaining his balance throughout. Keeping his hands inside the ball more consistently is an area to work on to help his hitting abilities improve. Behind the plate he also shows good actions with his feet and a quick release on throws to second. He improved his pop times slightly from his previous workout making accurate throws to the bag. With more strength and physical maturity, Chris will be a solid player at the next level.

10/19/2011 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2011 Chris is a hard working outfielder. Defensively, he is sure handed and moves through the ball very well, but needs to improve his jumps and routes by taking more rep during batting practice. At the plate, he has simple movements and a short stroke that allows him to stay in the middle of the field. Chris' ability to hit for power should begin to develop as he learns to extend through the hitting zone. With two more seasons of high school baseball remaining, Chris has the tools and the time to develop those tools, in preparation for the next level.

09/11/2011 - College PREP - Albuquerque, NM Chris is an athletic OF/C who has an accurate arm from the outfield. To gain more arm strength and compliment his accuracy, Chris needs to stay on top of the ball when throwing from the outfield as he tends to drop his arm angle. Chris has playable footwork, decent range, and gets into an athletic fielding position. Behind the plate Chris' arm was short and quick with plenty of carry. He also demonstrated quick lateral footwork. Chris needs to give a lower target and develop softer hands when receiving by allowing the ball to come to him instead of "stabbing" at the ball. At the plate, Chris has an athletic set up, good load and stays balanced and square throughout his stride. He has fast bat speed and makes consistent square contact and has a fluid rhythm that is on time. In order to create more power that can translate at the next level Chris needs to become more explosive and generate more drive with his lower half and letting his hips explode through the ball. With another year of high school baseball left for Chris he has plenty of room to grow as a complete player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
