Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

10/06/2010 - Arizona Fall Invitational - 2010 Christopher showed good improvements in his game during the Arizona Fall Invitational. In the OF, Chris has good actions, he runs well, and he gets good jumps on the ball. He runs appropriate routes, he takes good angles to the ball, and will be a very good defender at the next level. On the mound, Chris has a good arm, a solid delivery, and good action on his pitches. He shows good athleticism on the hill, he attacks hitters, and his pitches have good movement. Less body movements and better leg drive should help mound effectiveness improve. At the plate, Chris improved both his hitting and power grades from 35's to 45's. He has good / quick hands, he puts the ball in play, and went 3-7 at the plate during the event. Improved tracking, a more still head, and staying on the ball longer will continue to help offensive numbers improve.

07/15/2010 - College PREP - San Jose, CA Chris is a lean, athletic, 2-way player that Pitches and plays OF. He currently projects better on the mound as he approaches his Senior year. Chris has a FB that touches 84 MPH which he throws on a downhill plane. He has a loose arm, is direct to the plate, and he stays closed. Chris is a very raw Pitcher with good mechanics. If he can use more body for velocity, and become more balanced, mound effectiveness will further improve. In the OF, Chris makes plays on balls hit his way and he has a good 1st step. He moves through ground balls and squares himself to his target. Chris is raw in the OF and with better angles and not drifting to the ball, defensive numbers will get better. Offensively, Chris is an aggressive hitter with good bat speed. He will need to improve his barrel accuracy and get better extension through the ball for hitting grades to spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
