05/12/2013 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Chris is a solid, thick catcher with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.47 60 time. Feet are active / aggressive as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.15-2.27 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate, Henley shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 4 years to further develop, Chris has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
