Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Christopher is a RHP/3B graduating in 2019. On the mound, Christopher throws strikes and shows good, athletic mechanics. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and shows three pitches in his arsenal (FB, CB and CH), keeping the ball low in the zone. Christopher could add more velocity to his pitches by adding a long toss program to his training. In the field, Christopher shows active feet and gets into a low fielding position, working toward his target. With a harder first step, Christopher could see more range allowing him to reach more ground balls. He shows firm hands and makes clean exchanges with a long arm action, throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Christopher uses his body's momentum to throw the ball on a line to his target. Christopher may see more accuracy by following his throw after his release. At the plate, Christopher is a line drive, gap to gap type hitter. He shows a closed set up and a square stride with a good hand load and smooth rhythm, keeping his front half firm. He shows fast bat speed, getting on plane and making square contact with the ball. By keeping his balance center and transferring his weight, Christopher could make even more consistent, solid contact with the ball. With another year of development, Christopher could play at the next level.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Christopher is a compact, athletic RHP/SS prospect who has a high baseball IQ and hustles at all times on the field. His speed is his best tool, extending his range at short and allowing him to be aggressive on the base paths to put pressure on his opponent. At the dish, he has a square setup with good plate discipline and a patient approach to work the count. He stays balanced throughout his swing with an incorporated lower half and direct path to the ball to make consistent, square contact. At short, he works aggressively to the ball, especially showing quick feet on slow rollers to charge and make a play. He has an accurate arm to make throws across the diamond and to make good feeds on DP turns. On the bump, this right hander features an upper 60's fastball with run and an 11-5 curveball from a high 3/4 arm slot. His delivery is repeatable with good tempo and he works in line to the plat to show consistent control of both his pitches. Loosening up his arm action will lead to more arm whip with increase velocity and movement. Christopher is a prospect we will definitely keep an eye on moving forward.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
