Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

12/28/2017 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Christopher continues to progress in his abilities, especially in the INF and at the plate. Defensive skills are strong, feet are quick, and hands are soft. Christopher attacks aggressively, works the double play well, and throws with a strong/accurate arm to his target. At the plate, Christopher is an aggressive hitter with pop in his bat. He swings in good rhythm, can work the ball gap to gap, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. On the mound, Christopher has a clean arm action, he hides the ball well, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Christopher has a bright future ahead of himself.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (14-18) Chris is a RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose, clean arm action as he extends through on his release and fires off of his back side. He shows a four pitch mix with his four seam fastball topping out at 76mph with sinking action. Two seam fastball tops out at 75mph with good arm side run. Slider ranges from 63-67mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with cutting action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Chris can improve as a pitcher by improving his off speed command. Overall, Chris is a solid RHP prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

04/23/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Christopher showed at 2B for the first time at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 2B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is soft/sure and he presents well out front. Range will continue to improve as he continues to improve foot quickness.

12/27/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Christopher continues to work hard on his skills. On the mound, this righty has an effective 3-pitch mix in which he fills up the zone with strikes. FB shows good late run which will get in on the RHH's. Slider has sweeping action while changeup shows run - complimenting his FB well. He works the ball to both sides of the plate and will challenge hitters. At 3B - has active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He makes the backhand play look easy with a smooth transfer to throw. Offensively, Pow has active hands and gets back into a loaded position. He barrels the ball up and sprays it to all parts of the field. More power potential is there with more use of his lower 1/2. A 2019 grad - Pow continue to progress and still has time to make the adjustments to get to where he wants to be.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Pow is a consistent player that did everything on the diamond with similar skill. Defensively at 3B, he made the routine plays with good hands and took a good first step to create his angles. He had a tendency to rush to throw, and worked to stay in his legs for even greater velo. In the box, the lefty tracked the ball well and was aggressive to attack anything in the zone. He pulled the balls with strength and boosted his top hand involvement for added line-drive contact during the week. As a pitcher, he threw his FB with tail and sink, and spun a 9-3 SL with some back up. He got to a good balance point to start his delivery and kept his eyes on the target to repeat. In all - Christopher had a pair of singles and a double in 4 AB's and shows a bright future in the game.

12/28/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Christopher is a skilled 2-way player who can swing it. Offensively, this LHH shows a square setup with good balance. He has rhythm in his hands, swings on a level path and drives the ball on a line. At 3B, he shows quick footwork and hustles into position behind the ground ball. He has a quick arm and gets rid of the ball across the diamond. On the bump, Pow has a 3-pitch mix coming from a low 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on the target, works to a controlled balance point and works in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 70-73 mph while showing late sink. He gets good glove-side lead and maintains level shoulders. Changeup shows run as it will get in on RHH's. He pounds the zone and throws strikes with all 3 pitches. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Lower 1/2 drive
2. Contact points
Infield
1. Arm action
2. Accuracy on throws
Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Stride/direction
3. Finish

05/25/2013 - Little League® Experience - S. Williamsport Christopher has exceptional arm strength/accuracy and good athleticism as a fielder but it would benefit him to work at his agility/lateral speed. On the mound he has a good demeanor, works a good tempo, mechanics are workable and he throws strikes. Christopher should stay in-line to his target and smooth out his mechanics as a whole. As a hitter Christopher displayed good bat speed and the ability to hit to all fields. He needs to widen his stance, drive through the ball as opposed to spinning around it and stay on-plane.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
