05/20/2012 - College PREP - Jupiter, FL Clay is a young, average sized C/RHP who will graduate in 2014. Behind the plate, Clay has playable hands and feet, and he is a good target. He looks the ball in, tries to keep it in front when blocking, and his exchange is clean. Clay has a short / quick arm with some accuracy to 2nd base. Looser action, quicker feet, and more glove extension can help catching abilities improve. On the mound, Clay has an okay arm action and his FB touches 78 MPH. He works quick, keeps his shoulders level, and he gets his chest out over his front knee. Clay will need to loosen his arm action, soften his front side, and improve his control in order to improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Clay has a crouched stance, average bat speed, and he makes hard contact. He puts the bat on the ball consistently and can hit hard to the pull side. Hitting can get better with more rhythm / timing, letting the ball travel deeper, and with more lower 1/2.
