01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Clayton is an athletic catcher in the 2023 class. Behind the plate, his strong arm is on display. Posted a 2.08 pop and 84 velo. His arm is short and quick from a clean high exchange. His feet are active and sinks his hips for a low set-up. Has a firm glove and by working to keep the eyes of the pocket to the pitcher, he will provide a stronger presentation. At the plate, he has quick hands and a level path. He is on-time with the pitch and is smooth in his rhythm. Stays inside his feet well and shows line drive production to the pull side. Overall, Clayton is a next level player and can make an impact on a college roster next season.

04/24/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kansas City, KS Clayton continues to shine in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in the 2.09 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from back side into firm front.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Clayton is a class of 2023 C/3B prospect. He shows off a stocky frame with broad shoulders. Behind the plate, he shows off decent arm strength and good footwork towards the bag. Does a good job receiving and shows a low target. Blocked well and did a good job keeping the ball in front. At third base, he showed decent pre-pitch actions. Showed some ability to field through the baseball. Showed decent footwork to the ball and some ability to create angles. At the plate, he hit from an athletic stance. Showed good rotation and ability to keep his barrel in the zone. Swung with intent and had an aggressive approach. Clayton is a talented player that we hope to see again as he continues to develop.

09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Clayton continues to show as a top prospect at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt, tracks ball well and sticks pitches in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Runners will not want impressive pop times of 2.25 with zip (85 mph velocity) on his throws. Offensively, he continues to shine with solid hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with 2 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Atchinson, KS Clayton is an athletic C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Clayton gains ground when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of him. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line with carry through the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and works through a level swing, driving the ball to his pull side. Overall, Clayton is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

04/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kansas City, MO Clayton continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allows him to get his body down quickly, deadening balls while centering out front. Pop times showed in 2.10 range with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Clayton continues to show improvements on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 1.94 range with accuracy / carry (83 mph exit velocity) on his throws. Offensively, hitting abilities are now well above average with solid power potential through a squared setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage (83 mph exit velocity) through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Clayton is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 1.90 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Clayton has a lot of potential and will get looks form the college coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
