08/11/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 2 Cody showed similar abilities that we had previously seen in Louisville, KY, but they all play better in games. He is an all around player and possibly could be a two-way guy at the next level. On the mound, he competes and battles with a fastball that has lots of arm side run on a downhill plane. Changeup has improved - shows a plus feel for it with sinking action and good deception. His 3-pitch mix was very effective in both of his outings in this tournament, including 5+ shutout innings in the Championship Game. Arm strength has improved at SS through a clean exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He works around, playing through ground balls, displaying a reliable glove. Offensively, Cody shows a level swing path with hands working inside the ball, utilizing all fields with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 5 for 8 with 2B.

07/14/2010 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Cody is a two-way player on the mound plus at SS with a tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.04 60 time. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get and playing the baseball. Hands are soft, clean as he displays a solid glove action. Throws are accurate with some carry across the diamond. Offensively, Clark shows a balanced approach, flashing quick hands but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-81 mph with arm side run. Off speed pitches flash potential but need further development to be quality pitches as the next level. Changeup is his best off speed pitch and he throws strikes, staying down in the zone. Cody has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
