06/22/2010 - College PREP - Houston, TX Cody is a lean, switch hitting, 2-way player that plays OF and 2nd base. In the OF, Cody shows good body control and average footwork. He has good hands, goes back on the ball well, and makes plays on balls hit his way. Cody takes a good crow hop before throwing, and if he can improve his rhythm, smooth out his actions, and not short arm the ball, defensive abilities will get better. In the INF, Cody has good footwork and hands. He has a quick 1st step, a soft glove, and a smooth backhand. He feeds the double play well, and if he can quicken his exchange we could see defensive abilities improve. Offensively, Cody hits about the same from both sides of the plate. He has average bat speed from both sides of the plate, and he gets the barrel through the zone well. He has some pop in his bat from both sides, and with a better load from both sides, and more use of the lower 1/2, offensive grades could rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
