01/17/2025 - 2025 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Cody Martin is a strong and athletic catcher with solid defensive skills and developing power at the plate. At 6'0", 170 lbs, he has a durable frame suited for the catcher position, providing a solid presence behind the plate. His 76 mph position velocity and best pop time of 2.23 seconds indicate a strong and accurate arm, making him effective in controlling the running game. His blocking and receiving skills continue to improve, showing promise as a reliable backstop. At the plate, Martin possesses a powerful right-handed swing, with an 83 mph exit velocity and 50% barrel accuracy, demonstrating the ability to make solid contact and drive the ball with authority. His natural strength and bat speed suggest that with continued development in approach and mechanics, he can become a more impactful hitter in the lineup. Athletically, Martin displays elite grip strength (143R/140L), showcasing his raw power and ability to generate force both at the plate and behind the dish. His 7.78-second 60-yard dash indicates that his game is more power-focused rather than speed-driven, which suits his catcher/first baseman profile. Overall, Martin is a well-rounded catcher with a strong defensive foundation, developing power, and a projectable frame. As he continues refining his receiving, footwork, and hitting approach, he has the potential to be a key impact player at the next level.

12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Classic (HS) Cody is a 2026 catcher from Golden, CO, who worked hard during his time at the Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Camp. He demonstrates a low sit and easy sway behind the plate, tracking pitches well with excellent pocket awareness. He replaces his feet efficiently on throws to second base, showcasing a clean arm stroke with a best pop time of 2.3 seconds. Cody displays good footwork on his blocks and works to center the baseball, especially on his throws. At the plate, he starts in an open stance with a controlled load and a flat barrel path, exhibiting late bat whip and good awareness of the strike zone. During live game action, he reached base on two singles and three walks. Cody needs to work on being more linear in his direction to the baseball, and another year of growth and development will help further elevate his game.

09/01/2024 - National Showcase - San Francisco, CA Cody is a C who will graduate in 2026. Has a long frame and lean build with room to add throughout. Shows good body control with an easy sway and tracks pitches to his mitt. Has a low secondary stance with a quick transfer and works with good direction towards second base. Shows a quick release with an arm velocity up to 77 mph and a best pop time of 2.31 seconds. Starts in a crouched stance with an on-time stride. He keeps his hands inside the baseball and hits the ball where it is pitched. Has a fast barrel through the hitting zone as he hit line drives to all fields during his round of BP. With two years of continued growth and development, we foresee Cody improving in all aspects of his game.

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament Cody is an athletic C who will graduate in 2026. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. Pop times showed in 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Cody has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
