10/24/2012 - Arizona Freshman/Sophmore Fall Classic In Cody's most recent Factory event, in the showcase atmosphere in Arizona, he pitched and played second base. Defensively at second, he played through balls with soft/sure hands, quick feet, and a quick/clean exchange. He threw accurately with an ability to drop his arm slot to throw from different angles. At times, he found himself rushing his throws, and needs to simply trust his natural productive pace. Offensively, he showed a short bat path, good bat speed, and good extension. On the bases he got great jumps and showed he is an instinctual baserunner. Keeping his head controlled at contact and getting his lower half more involved in the swing will help with increased bat speed and power. On the mound, he threw two pitches for strikes with his fastball that touched 82 MPH. His curve-ball had 11/5 action with gradual break. His arm action was short, but clean, with a sound/controlled delivery, and consistent control. The athletic/thin young player is a raw gamer that knows the game well and has good instincts. He projects well as a second basemen or pitcher that can throw strikes and gets outs.
