03/05/2023 - National Showcase - Sanford (Orlando), FL Cody is a talented SS/RHP in the 2024 class. In the field, his feet are effective and he centers his body to the baseball. He creates solid attack angles and works from the ground up. He replaces his feet well during his clean exchanges. Arm has life at 84 and feeds are accurate. On the mound, he shows a fast arm and can command his pitches. His FB sat79-80 and both sink and run. His CB had 10-4 shape and working with grips can produce more tilt and spin. His CH worked down in the zone and had feel at 72-3. At the plate, he has a open and balanced set-up. He can use the whole field with 83 exit velo. Working to gain more separation and generate a hand load will allow for more force through the swing. Overall, Cody has a plus arm and with some development, can become a next level two-way prospect.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Cody showed well in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City event. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
