08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Cody is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build and room to fill out. Ran a 7.08 60-yard dash. At 3B, showed efficient feet and smooth actions. Good lateral range to both glove side and backhand side. Fields from an athletic fielding position, with a low funnel, and a good glove angle. Accurate throws, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 86mph across diamond. A right-handed pitcher who engages his lower half and throws with intent. He gathers over rubber, with his eyes on target, and separates his hands on time. Clean mechanics with ability to repeat his delivery. Throws a FB that sits 78-79mph with some arm side movement, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with tight spin, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed and sinking action through the zone. CB was best pitch during bullpen. Showed good feel for off-speed pitches is advanced for his age. A right-handed hitter with a square and athletic stance. Good rear hip turn, as he gets knob to C, and keeps barrel in the hitting zone for a long time. Sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 77mph during BP. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

07/18/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Cody continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with zip across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and good depth. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

06/15/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Cody continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws show good accuracy with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a lone toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Cody is a 2025 2B/RHP that was a grinder at Pirate City. In the Infield Cody shows athletic and active footwork with agile range to the glove and back hand sides. Getting the glove down sooner will improve Cody's fielding. As he makes exchanges, he creates momentum to his targets and makes accurate throws around the diamond. At the plate Cody sets up in a square stance with loose hands and takes a short, square stride. He fires his lower half through getting the barrel on plane and works a line drive approach. On the mound Cody shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB. He shows a balanced mechanics with good rhythm and tempo. Overall, Cody will continue to grow into his body and athleticism.

01/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Cody is a thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Cody covers ground well through efficient footwork. He has firm hands, fields in a low position, and throws with a consistent arm across the diamond. On the mound, Cody has a loose arm circle, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He lands with a proper length stride toward home and competes in the zone. Offensively, this RHH has a square set-up, good balance, and quick hands. He has a short/direct barrel, swings a level stick, and he uses his lower body. Cody can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
