11/11/2012 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Cody is a tall/athletically built RHP/OF that has an outstanding arm. In the outfield, he has soft/sure hands, fluid footwork, and works through balls, fielding athletically on the balls of his feet. His throws have life and are consistently accurate from the high 3/4 arm slot with long/loose arm action. Cody needs to continue getting reps off of live bats to work on his first step. His quick exchange is a definite strength in the outfield, however, he fails to utilize his lower half completely, at times. On the mound, he throws two pitches for strikes with his fastball topping off at 85 MPH and his curve-ball having 10/4 shape. He retains the same arm slot and long/free arm action as in the outfield. He gets to a balanced point and has on-time/smooth separation and rhythm. Cody does a nice job of staying inline to the dish with level shoulders and a complete/athletic finish. He opens early on his landing and therefore loses his hips and the lower half. Mechanically, there is even more life in the arm with more use of the lower half, beginning at his balance point. With the bat, he is a gap to gap type hitter that shows a nice approach and pull side pop. He has an athletic setup, clean stride/load, and generates explosive bat speed while making hard/square contact. Cody could loosen his back elbow, keep his hands high, and could get more use from his lower half. In all, the 6'2"/175 lbs Junior has a bright future ahead of him in this game if he continues to work.
