01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Cody showed similar skills at the Pre-Season as he did in previous workouts. At the plate, Cody has a compact, lefty swing, with good balance, and solid barrel accuracy. He has good bat speed, a good finish, and he drives the middle of the field. In the INF, Cody gets in a good ready position, he has soft hands, and good range to the backhand. He fields cleanly, works the double play well, and he throws with some accuracy to his target.

08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Cody is a solid infielder that will graduate in 2014. Defensive abilities are outstanding as he utilizes his feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range. He works to square balls up and plays through well with his body, presenting clean / soft hands well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displays strength in his swing to all fields as he uses his lower half well. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and very coachable. Cody has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
