06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Martin continues to show as an 3B/RHP and shows a lot of potential at both spots. Arm strength has improved as he threw his best velocity to date, topping out at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with slight break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will rise as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He has improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.64 runner. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He needs to attack and play through balls more while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Swing path is level and he has strength in his swing the baseball jumping off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.
