04/14/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Colby is a 2026 grad out of Temescal Canyon High School. As a third baseman, he shows lightness in his feet and moves well laterally centering up all baseballs to his glove side. Balls come out of his hand with accuracy and velocity topping out at 84mph on his pull-down. At the plate, he showed a couple of solid rounds with barrel accuracy being a plus. He is short to the baseball and keeps his bat on-plane. On the mound, his fastball topped out at 77mph with command. Curveball sat 63-65mph and his change-up came in at 68-69mph. He shows balance, a clean arm path and a controlled landing when on the bump. He could get better extension with his front foot to help generate even more power out of his lower half. He is definitely an athlete showing above average in his foot speed, broad jump and 5-10-5 shuttle runs. With two more years of growth, we see Colby catching the eyes of college coaches in the near future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
