12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Colby continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is soft and presents out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a wide setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament Colby continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the All-State event. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

06/05/2023 - National Showcase - Tulsa, OK Colby is an OF/SS prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF he shows good body control at baseball with efficient footwork. First step reads enables him to flip his hips and run down balls in all directions. Made on-line throws from an over-the-top arm slot with an arm velocity up to 80mph. At SS he starts with a good prep step and closes distance on batted balls. He fields from a low fielding position, with hands out front, and has a low funnel. Made on-line throws consistently to first with momentum to his target. A right-handed hitter he hits from an athletic and square stance. Has a good setup to start and is centered at contact point. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee the 2-way prospect having a bright future on the baseball field.

04/02/2023 - National Showcase - Springdale, AR Colby is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the infield, he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and has active/efficient footwork. He takes aggressive angles towards baseball with the ability to make routine plays. He fields from an athletic fielding position, with ability to pick out hops, and has a quick exchange. He made accurate throws from multiple arm slots, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 81mph across diamond. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. Small hand load with knob to C and gets his elbow in slot. He hits into a firm frontside and has a good bat angle at contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, Colby should have a bright future on the baseball diamond.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Colby is an athletic 2B/SS who showed as a prospect at the Pre-Season All American Tournament. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are firm and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential is solid through an athletic setup. Hands are quick generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing (84 mph exit velocity) with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 2 years to further develop, Colby has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
