04/29/2018 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Cole continues to show improvements on the baseball diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.30 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front but will benefit by improving lateral movements.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Cole is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2019. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target. Pop times showed in the 2.39 range with accuracy to his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and gets rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are firm but needs to widen stance and present glove more out front to improve receiving grade. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner and improve flexibility. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Cole has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
